Alyssa and Ryan’s wedding is proof that an intimate celebration doesn’t have to mean sacrificing the beauty, thoughtfulness, or experience of a larger wedding. If anything, it can make room for even more of what matters. A thoughtfully chosen venue, intentional details, and a guest list filled with the people who know and love you best can create something that feels every bit as significant as the day itself.
Set in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, Redbird offered the most beautiful setting for a day that felt both elevated and deeply personal. With its historic architecture, thoughtful details, and warm atmosphere, it was the kind of space that didn’t need much to feel special. Every element felt intentional, creating a day that was beautiful without feeling overdone and refined without losing the heart behind it all.
We started our time with portraits in downtown LA, not too far from Redbird, walking the streets and playing with lighting. We then captured some more portraits, playing with the beauty found inside Redbird, before they headed to cocktail hour to enjoy the presence of family and friends.
What stood out most about Alyssa and Ryan’s day was the feeling behind it. Intimate weddings have a way of making room for the moments that can so easily get lost in a larger celebration. More time to be present, more space to connect with the people who mean the most, and a little more freedom to let the day unfold naturally. There is something incredibly meaningful about gathering your closest people in one place and getting to experience it all together.
And while the design of a wedding day can be beautiful, it’s the people and the moments in between that give it meaning. The quiet exchanges, the laughter shared around the table, the way your favorite people show up for you, and the feeling of being surrounded by so much love. Those are the things that make a wedding day feel like more than just a beautiful event.
I think there is something so beautiful about choosing to celebrate in a way that feels true to you. There is no one right way to get married, and your wedding doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s to be meaningful. It can be small and still feel grand. It can be simple and still feel incredibly beautiful. It can look different from what you once imagined and end up feeling even more like you.
Alyssa and Ryan’s wedding was such a beautiful reminder that when a day is designed with intention and centered on the people and love at its heart, the result is something truly special.
For the couples dreaming of an intimate wedding in Los Angeles, let this be your reminder: you don’t need a big guest list or an elaborate production to create a day worth remembering. Sometimes, the most beautiful celebrations are the ones that leave the most room to simply be present.
